World Series of Backgammon
LONDON-COPENHAGEN-CANNES
World Series of Backgammon (WSOB) is the fastest growing
backgammon name on the planet. A series of big money
tournaments set against contrasting abackdrops in London,
Copenhagen and Cannes. WSOB attracts the world's best players from
all over the world and hundreds of new faces joining a new wave of
skill gaming and the growing presence of backgammon, the world's
oldest game.
Like poker, backgammon is a game of luck and skill but is also known as the cruelest game because of the potentially outrageous swings in fortunes that can occur with each throw of the dice. This dimension sees pros and amateurs taking shots at each other for high stakes at a series of big money events from the UK Masters to the notoriously competitive Nordic Open and on to high rolling Cannes and the Riviera Cup set against the background of the Palm Beach Casino, where the shootout finale, the WSOB Championship, is captured in tense short format, 'final table style' matches.
WSOB television presentation is by player's favorite, New Yorker
Jessie Cantrell, who as host also provides insight into the
lifestyle of players. Gaming legend Gus Hansen is supported
in the commentary box by Englishman John Clark, who is
Simon-Cowell-critical of poor play. Gus started in backgammon
and is a draw for the millions of poker fans intrigued by his
unique approach to both skill game disciplines.
